Shoe Shoot with Freddie Child-Villiers
2/16/2011
I did this cool shoot with Freddie Child-Villiers at the beginning of the year and I couldn't wait to share it with you guys. I've been shooting my shoe collection with various photographers for an interview I did with issue of Self Magazine China. My shoe collection is kind of out of control so when a Chinese publication wanted to cover girls all over the world with shoe obsessions, the lovely La Muse recommended me after I replied to her tweet.
I remembered Freddie from his winning of the Elle New Talent Photography Awards I went to last year. Fast forward a few months later and I'm making funny faces for his camera underneath a pile of shoes. I had so much fun. The concept for the shoot had to do with my shoes taking over; first they were nonchalantly strewn about the highway when I was turned into giant Sheri, then the drowning shot was an illustration of what might happen if I opened my shoe closet (a cartoony never-ending stream of shoes falling on top of me causing me to gasp for air) and finally triumphantly finding what I was looking for in a series of limb shots above the messy sea of shoes. The shoot was really short notice but Freddie pulled it together professionally. His editing skills are amazing and he's got a distinct vision so he presents things in a unique way. I'd love to see these kinds of engaging and whimsical shots more often in the media. Many thanks to Tegan and Freddie because they were fantastic, I'd work with them again in a heartbeat.
