Recently I headed over to the MilQ and Honey headquarters to see the Face of Zuri finalists shoot some beautiful accessories and find out who the lucky new Zuri girl would be. I hung out with Siyaam, Zahrah and Tegan, lurking behind the latter while she shot all the gorgeous girls, thanks Tegz! As you can see, all of the finalists were stunning so the judges had a tough call to make. In the end, 21-year-old Amber Prout Jones took the title as the Face of Zuri. The runner-up, Patience Dlamini will get to shoot one of the new campaigns with Amber. Well done to the girls! I can't wait to see their images in-store when I go on my next accessories shopping spree.
Recently Ruby contacted me to take part in their new campaign and I couldn't wait to get to set! I absolutely love Ruby; they've made some of my favorite pretty (and comfy!) underwear, not to mention beautiful accessories - and if anyone knows me, they know that I drop most of my shopping money on those shiny things. Last month, a few of us bloggers were invited to choose an archetype and take part in a pamper session before shooting for their new range. First we went to Enmasse in Gardens for a Thai massage and tea (wowza that was an interesting but great experience haha!) and then I headed to Wembley Studios. I ate the most delicious red velvet cupcake before washing it down with champagne (insert MIA swaggin goin' swell gif here) and got to meet sweethearts Farrah (codename: siren), Cleo (AKA: Grecian goddess), Carlinn (pseudonym: wood nymph) and Judy (alias: champion of upcycling). I also got to catch up with Bailey (moniker: mermaid) and now I want a GoPro, check out her cute behind the scenes video here.
For my archetype I chose 'modern-day witch' and make up artist Jade Snell created a masterpiece. I'd worked with her before but this time we got to go crazy with make up, I'm talking blue glitter overdose and a third eye! I'm really into theatrical looks so I had a blast shooting. Let's talk about the jewellery for a second here, I wanted to go Winona and steal everything. They have beautiful crystal necklaces, dangly earrings that dreams are made of and a crescent moon necklace that I have to buy right. now.
Special thanks to Robyn, Kayla and the photography team for the Ruby Pamper and Pout experience! I can't wait to see the final images.
I did this cool shoot with Freddie Child-Villiers at the beginning of the year and I couldn't wait to share it with you guys. I've been shooting my shoe collection with various photographers for an interview I did with issue of Self Magazine China. My shoe collection is kind of out of control so when a Chinese publication wanted to cover girls all over the world with shoe obsessions, the lovely La Muse recommended me after I replied to her tweet.
I remembered Freddie from his winning of the Elle New Talent Photography Awards I went to last year. Fast forward a few months later and I'm making funny faces for his camera underneath a pile of shoes. I had so much fun. The concept for the shoot had to do with my shoes taking over; first they were nonchalantly strewn about the highway when I was turned into giant Sheri, then the drowning shot was an illustration of what might happen if I opened my shoe closet (a cartoony never-ending stream of shoes falling on top of me causing me to gasp for air) and finally triumphantly finding what I was looking for in a series of limb shots above the messy sea of shoes. The shoot was really short notice but Freddie pulled it together professionally. His editing skills are amazing and he's got a distinct vision so he presents things in a unique way. I'd love to see these kinds of engaging and whimsical shots more often in the media. Many thanks to Tegan and Freddie because they were fantastic, I'd work with them again in a heartbeat.
Check out the behind the scenes video of the shoot here and see more of Freddie's work at www.fcvphotography.com/
Time has slipped by and I haven't been able to blog, in fact I am knee deep in a swamp of assignments but I have a college prom party tonight that I am determined to go to. I just can't refuse a formal ball, I love dressing up. A fancy dress and killer shoes, you know it. So I'll keep this short and sweet with my styled food shoot from last weekend using real candyfloss.
I'm really getting interested in styling now that I'm doing shoots. I've been working on my croquis book as well, it's so great to get out of the city, with nothing to distract you. I've been forcing myself to get 7 and a half hours of sleep every night also and it's helping my productivity. Just in time for this Friday; jeans to start and finish, 2 seperate sets of storyboards and 13 male figures spread over 3 A2s and 1 A3. Whew!
