Unzip my eyes so I can see. The ritual gets more perverse every year. A fashion demon with multitudes within me. I took my broken heart and turned it into art. So many years of pain and suffering just made me more interesting. I can feel deeper than I've ever been able to and I can show you what's underneath my smile; more feelings than I can give names to. I'm a work in progress, always stitching and embellishing the outsides to match the inside. I'm never finished and I never will be, even after my heart stops beating and my lungs expire, I will unwrap my soul and start again. 

I was so looking forward to challenging myself this Halloween because I usually focus on fashion and this time around, I wanted to really experiment with make up. This look took about 2 hours in total, using only Urban Decay make up, some eyelash glue and my old fashion school supplies. I was especially excited to use my perversion felt-tip eyeliner pen to create those sharp wings and stitches. It was so fun to get creative even though I wasn't sure what I was going to do at first. I swiped on the lipstick and it just evolved from there. With just a little bit of effort, you can transform yourself at the last minute.

I've been having so much fun editing all of my Instagram photos with VSCO that I thought, instead of always lugging a camera around, why not edit some event pics with that app and share the snaps on my blog? I'm all about enjoying what I do these days so getting creative and having fun is the name of the game. 

On Thursday 23 March, I put on my favourite leather jacket and headed to the launch of the re-designed Diesel store at the V&A Waterfront. I've always been a fan of Diesel because their jeans, leather jackets and shoes are my vibe. I felt like I was with my people when I overheard someone say "It's an...interesting crowd." Hell yes it was! Gareth Doye was finishing up some tattoos on his clients in one corner while Edge For Men had set up a one-chair barber shop in the other - and between all of  the guests' different bright hair colours on display, every shade of the rainbow was accounted for. Whiskey, wine and a well-frequented photobooth made for a killer evening and chatting with media friends is always a pleasure.

I'm a huge fan of Superbalist. Last year, I did all of my Christmas shopping on there which was a dream compared to my usual last-minute trips to crowded malls. When they contacted me and asked me to get involved in their Dress The Part project, I was delighted because I know their site like the back of my hand and dresses are my thing! 

I chose five dresses for five different occasions. First up, we have a fancy occasion such as a wedding or event, next is my choice for office chic and then I chose a cute sequin mini dress for a party. The burgundy bell sleeve swing dress is what I would throw on for a day adventure which I'd style with a big hat and gladiator sandals or ankle boots. Last but not least, I thought this cozy sweater dress would be great for every day because it's versatile and I can wear it in winter with some tights or knee-highs.

I actually plan to wear the first dress to the Mercedes-Benz Bokeh Fashion Film Festival next month while the other four are already on my wishlist. My wishlist also has about three other bell sleeve dresses that I'm trying to choose between. What can I say? I just love the witchy/vampiric vibe. Where does the time go? I can't believe that it's almost Christmas - or that I'm at the age where all of my friends are getting engaged. I recently made my way to Shimansky at the V & A Waterfront to visit the Cape Town Diamond Museum. I also got to see Shimansky's workshop where I watched diamonds being cut by their eagle-eyed experts. Imagine one of them going for dinner with their friends; "How was work today, Joe?" "Oh you know, the usual, just cut some diamonds." #casual. After the tour, I went to the showroom to try on some amazing rings - what an experience! I've decided to compile a droolworthy Christmas wishlist because hey, even if I won't get a My Girl ring, I can certainly dream about it!

Millennium Diamond Earrings

The trademark design concept of the Millennium collection is a Shimansky diamond delicately set between two bands. I love the idea of applying the famous ring design to earrings. Always remember the 4 Cs: Clarity, Cut, Carat and Colour. Decide which is most important to you and then play around to find something that works for you; for example, if you're more lenient towards Clarity and Colour, you can still can get a beautiful diamond to suit a smaller budget. 

UK high street store River Island is finally in Cape Town! I popped into Canal Walk last week to take a peek. I absolutely loved River Island when I was in Liverpool and my cousin who lives there is Addicted with a capital A. You might recall that Rihanna collaborated with them last year which was a good fit seeing as the brand is youthful, edgy and flirty. River Island treated the guests to manicures, live photo printing, flash tattoos, a flower crown station and fortune cookies filled with discounts. Yum! 

So this is the vibe, River Island offers wearable, on-trend key items, fun accessories, beautiful shoes, classic bags and stunning swimwear. There's also a guys section of course, I was just too busy loving the ladies one. Price wise, it's comparable to Topshop, with some items being quite expensive but let's be real, there's not much wiggle room when our exchange rate sucks. I'm pleased with their collection because brands have a tendency to play it safe in South Africa; not so with these eccentric cat ears, gorgeous bikini cover-ups, a drool-worthy chain harness and rock chick staples.

I'm confident that the range they've brought through is exactly what you'd find in Europe. Every image I've posted here contains items I'd want to buy. I'm so happy we finally have a good variety of shopping options in SA. What did I do before all these brands made their way here, besides save some dinero of course, haha?
