UK high street store River Island is finally in Cape Town! I popped into Canal Walk last week to take a peek. I absolutely loved River Island when I was in Liverpool and my cousin who lives there is Addicted with a capital A. You might recall that Rihanna collaborated with them last year which was a good fit seeing as the brand is youthful, edgy and flirty. River Island treated the guests to manicures, live photo printing, flash tattoos, a flower crown station and fortune cookies filled with discounts. Yum! 

So this is the vibe, River Island offers wearable, on-trend key items, fun accessories, beautiful shoes, classic bags and stunning swimwear. There's also a guys section of course, I was just too busy loving the ladies one. Price wise, it's comparable to Topshop, with some items being quite expensive but let's be real, there's not much wiggle room when our exchange rate sucks. I'm pleased with their collection because brands have a tendency to play it safe in South Africa; not so with these eccentric cat ears, gorgeous bikini cover-ups, a drool-worthy chain harness and rock chick staples.

I'm confident that the range they've brought through is exactly what you'd find in Europe. Every image I've posted here contains items I'd want to buy. I'm so happy we finally have a good variety of shopping options in SA. What did I do before all these brands made their way here, besides save some dinero of course, haha?
