Charming young South African jewellery designer, Henriette Botha, unveiled her new fall collection this week. Instead of opting for the darker colours so associated with fall, her collection SOUTH brings us just the right amount of bright that we crave when the days are grey. Inspired by Brazilian prints, Mexican attitude and Sicilian vibrance, this mix of cultural influences was evident in her use of textures and juxtaposition. Henriette's knotting, beadwork, chains and tassels combine to create bold statement accessories but she didn't forget about the gals who love their delicate bracelets and earrings. With a CV including a stint at Balmain, this girl is pretty impressive. I'm glad we didn't lose her to Paris! Shop the line at www.henriettebotha.com.
I really enjoyed Craig Port's collection, so much so, I had to share his menswear separately. The comfy knits, cool prints and pastel colours were a thrill, not to mention those lust-worthy satchels. I really admire how Port makes menswear interesting by inserting feminine touches in ways that don't steer the entire look completely away from its masculine foundation, at least not to me. I want to see more men dressing like this! Very nicely done indeed.
Stefania Morland celebrated their 8th birthday last week with an intimate little gathering so I thought I'd share some pics. Jasna and I had gone to two other events that day so the chilled atmosphere was very welcome. Beach House's Myth filled the boutique while I sat near the change room and chatted to Jas and Nambitha. I finally got to take in in all the raw silk garments I'd seen on the runway, up close. Those pretty center front bows always say "Stefania" to me. We left a little later and turned to see the store lit up so beautifully against the Cape Town night. Summer magic is all around.
Acid Pony has swag for days. We're an edgy street wear label, incorporating contemporary quirky designs and reworked vintage clothing. With a “tongue in cheek” attitude and some retro nostalgia, you’re gonna love to hate us.

No big deal, just looking effortlessly cute on our way to class. In Monaco. Check out some of the people watching I did while in the Principality after the jump featuring mint green accessories, a lei adorned bicycle and a chic woman in Dolce & Gabbana having lunch while her cute pup lays next to her, awwww!
David Tlale hit it out of the park for me. His show titled, "I am not coloured, I am colour" took place in the middle of a closed street in the Bo-kaap where the quaint pastel houses were the ultimate backdrop for an all-white collection. The title says it all as the absence of colour in the garments emphasize the character of them hence of the proverbial "color". Great collections tell a story and are solidly cohesive. I am dying over the ombre stockings and his strong and interesting cuts. Add delightful embelishments and delicate fabrics and you have juxtaposition fashion heaven. I seriously loved the paneled men's blazer which reminded me of grading blocks while pattern cutting. What a breath of fresh air.
Ruff Tung's colour ways conjured up thoughts of white sand beaches, turquoise oceans and coral under the sea. We also saw some laser-cut acrylic disc accessories, gathers, batwing sleeves, delicate blouses and the peplum trend that I saw all over the UK club scene this Summer. I thought I'd share what Matthew wore to the Cosmo Lingerie show. I've been taking pictures of Matt's outfits since college. In fact, I remember running up to him like a crazy person in first year to ask him where he got his pants. I had no idea what his name was and I rudely called after him, "Hey guy, boy!" before my visual studies lecturer told me his name. All I knew was that I had to meet this guy and I've been enjoying his fashion insights ever since. At the moment he's hard at work on a new collection. You can follow Matt on twitter here.
Have a great week!
