MBFWCT 2012 - David Tlale
8/17/2012
David Tlale hit it out of the park for me. His show titled, "I am not coloured, I am colour" took place in the middle of a closed street in the Bo-kaap where the quaint pastel houses were the ultimate backdrop for an all-white collection. The title says it all as the absence of colour in the garments emphasize the character of them hence of the proverbial "color". Great collections tell a story and are solidly cohesive. I am dying over the ombre stockings and his strong and interesting cuts. Add delightful embelishments and delicate fabrics and you have juxtaposition fashion heaven. I seriously loved the paneled men's blazer which reminded me of grading blocks while pattern cutting. What a breath of fresh air.
