Spero Villioti knows that glam beach hats are my wallet's kryptonite. So here's the deal, summer 2010, I got my hands on an awesome white floppy sunhat. The water warped it after I fell into the pool so summer 2011, I picked a new one up but I packed it in for my Mediterranean cruise and ended up leaving it in the cabin #whitegirlproblems. So there I was, watching a pretty beachwear collection, cursing my clumsiness. I really enjoyed the show, Missoni-esque zig zags, a healthy dose of nautical and chic black & white wraps. Hand me a cocktail as soon as the sun comes out.
The week before last my right-hand man Michael covered the Guess Fashion Showcase for me as I was at a different event. Drinks were served at Café Caprice’ before they moved to the Camps Bay beachfront for the fashion show. The clothes are classic Guess; a little bit cowboy and a lot sexy. I wish I could have been there! This event was organised by Brandnew Marketing who are responsible for all of Café Caprice’s events.
"Fashion show on Camps Bay beach, yes please! The weather cleared up amazingly for this fashion event. There was not a breath of wind, a perfect sunset and nothing but beautiful people as far as the eye could see. The show started off with a 3 piece drum act (whose members looked like they could take on Rammstein in a bar brawl) and then out came the models in an awesome range of Guess clothing from casual everyday wear to bikinis to ladies lingerie. I know SA Fashion girl will approve of the denim shorts and glam floppy hats for Summer. Guests received goodie-crammed Guess bags, complete with Guess Sunglasses, a Guess charm, a Guess diary, Essie Nail Polish, a Camelot Spa voucher and a mini Jameson bottle. After the show everyone retired back to Caprice’ for more drinks and one hell of a party, all in all a fun night was had by all."
As far as my thoughts on the fashion, I do love the denim shorts and floppy hats. I really want to get my hands on a pair of shorts from Guess now! My Christmas wishlist is getting a bit overloaded. Also garters and thigh highs are my guilty pleasure. I never ranted about Taylor Momsen's obsession with thigh highs and garters because when I was 16 I also got the magical idea of raiding my mom's closet for them...A great way to work garters into your wardrobe is to dress them down without stockings by letting them peek out of your dresses or shorts and teaming them with a casual cover up like a denim jacket or long cardigan.
What's your guilty fashion pleasure? Will you be getting anything from Guess this summer?
