Last month I had the pleasure of visiting the Anomali studio. So here's the deal, Moniek and Marlet met while studying at Stellenbosch and established this delightful brand where they create precious jewellery pieces out of anything that they can find; spoons, trophies...you name it. The pieces are so beautifully intricate and they're all made by hand. Can you imagine the skill and time involved in producing just one item? The girls actually let us try our luck with sawing which I found really addictive, I had such a fun day hanging out. Check out all of the beautiful photos after the jump! More photos can be found on Facebook.
It's no secret that I'm dangerously obsessed with online shopping. A package arrives and from beneath the bubble wrap, a tangible item you'd only seen in pictures, emerges. Some of my favorite purchases have been from the comfort of my bed; they say don't work where you sleep but I will assert that you should most definitely shop where you dream. I love Asos but let's not lie, customs can be a bitch. My friend then told me that whenever she orders online, she gets together with someone who has their own wishlist and they divide those nasty post office costs between each other. Problem solved!

Patricia Field dress, Shoe Connection heels, Vamp Clothing necklaces and gold armor ring, Sass Diva cross, wing and stack rings, Claires bracelets
I was wearing leggings with this but it was too hot so I took them off and left 'em in the car. Outfits that just plan themselves...I'm at fashion's mercy, what's new? Wore this to the Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer concert. I love one hit wonders, my Ipod is just full of them. People see them as punchlines but really they gave you a moment, a song in your life and they live in that song's shadow while the world forgets them. The best quote from Lady Gaga is when she said “A year from now, I could go away, and people might say, ‘Gosh, what ever happened to that girl who never wore pants?’ But how wonderfully memorable 30 years from now, when they say, ‘Do you remember Gaga and her bubbles?’ Because, for a minute, everybody in that room will forget every sad, painful thing in their lives, and they’ll just live in my bubble world.”
It must be a very difficult thing to do, permanently framed in a pair of parachute pants or in a cheesy music video. Forever recognised as that snapshot of a person, unchanging, donning a jester's hat. But it's really just a person just like you and I that has been cartoonized and put in a jack-in-the-box. The concept of one hit wonders reminds me; no one thing can define something as complex as a person. People are always changing with little tweaks that can make a big difference. Be whoever you want to become. No one can put a label on evolution because it's never stagnant for very long or as a wiser man once said, "Can't touch this".
Have a lovely week!
What do you want to do this year?
I'm in love with one of the dopest local brands I've seen. Vamp Clothing is the modern, edgy, all around badass of South African fashion so I had to get my hands on the above 3 pieces. I can't get enough of evil eyes, I've always had one but it gets lost or breaks somehow. I was once told that the evil eye reflects people's behaviour towards the wearer back onto them. A kind of karma charm.
The reason I'm so passionate about this brand, which also offers some amazing clothing, is because their accessories speak to the young and reckless. I used to feel guilty about my over-indulgent accessories obsession until I quickly remembered why I keep on having to buy more. When you're really living in the moment, there are casualties. Your necklaces break while you're getting out of a cab, your rings fall apart backstage before you take your walk on the runway or you crunch new earrings with your high heels while being kissed by a boy who's just bad news. So really, there's never enough accessories.

If you've ever fallen asleep in bracelets and rings, loved how they tell a little story or just broken some rules, get your fix with Vamp Clothing. These babies were made with the wild in mind so you can get your crunk on without so much as a scratch to show for it.
