Forever New: High Society

I had the chance to check out Forever New's High Society collection that's in stores at the moment. An amazing electric violinist played while models walked out in gorgeous mini and maxi dresses with a fluffy poodle adding a dash of cute - certainly the dog a Forever New girl would bedeck in a sparkly collar, don't ya think? High Society is a spring collection in sorbet colours and floral prints. Think tea parties or a day at the races. Crochet, silks, broderie anglais and 50s and 60s silhouettes were accessorized with statement necklaces and embellished clutches.

Forever New offers strappy heels, charming purses and delicate rings to complete their classic feminine looks. I like to mix rock 'n roll and girly so I love teaming sweet dresses from here with spikes and boots. Speaking of accessories, British brand, Orelia jewellery will launch exclusively at selected Forever New stores from Mid-November 2013 providing gorgeous costume jewellery made with Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones and beautiful charms.

High Society will be available in all Forever New stores and select Edgars stores from October 2013 while the Orelia @ Forever New collection will be available at Forever New stores in Eastgate Mall, Fourways Mall, Gateway Shopping Centre, I’ Langa Mall, Menlyn Mall, Pavilion Shopping Centre, Sandton City, V&A Waterfront and Woodlands Mall from mid-November 2013.

I think I might have to get my Queen's Plate dress from here...

I make the same mistakes

I would very much like that by safashiongirl featuring platform wedges

Don't we all though? We'll keep making mistakes no matter how much we learn so we might as well dress chic because that's something we have complete control over, hehe. Lately I've been going to concerts, visiting my cousin/partner in crime in Joburg and making moodboards. Every month I write up a to-do list of personal and work-oriented goals and put it on my fridge. I love crossing things off and it's a great way to keep track of everything. I've already got some new goals for March and I'm looking forward to them.

I recently had the best Valentine's day. I don't believe in putting pressure on a single date but I really had an amazing day. I went to the Grand Daddy Hotel in Long Street and watched Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet with a picnic of popcorn, french loaf and champagne. If you ever want to do something great for Valentine's then I highly recommend it, it was already booked up when I emailed them but luckily for me they had a cancellation. So book early next year if you remember. Better yet, write it on your long to-do list! Have a great weekend :)

D.I.Y. Day: Deco Flasks

Recently I gave my girl Anina her birthday present which was sort of a lucky packet of things I thought she'd enjoy; temporary tattoos, nail polish and batteries for her camera to name a few. I also gave her a flask that matched one I had bought recently. I just love any kind of accessory and I wanted to customize one so I gathered my fashion school supplies, a bunch of superglue and we both got to it. The flasks are inspired by the Japanese art of deco den, they just glue cute little items onto everything from cell phone cases to nails. It was really fun even though we ended up with superglue fingers!

Deco Den D.I.Y. Tips:

Squeeze out the glue little by little to avoid getting it on your hands.

If there's something you're having trouble attaching, glue it to something else first. I had an old badge that I just pierced though some fabric and it worked like a charm.

Search on Ebay or Etsy for cute supplies.

Place glue on the object rather than the charms, I find it holds better.

Don't plan too much, just get going!

Fill up empty spaces with glitter and sequins.

Go as crazy as you want, the sky is the limit,! It's supposed to be OTT.

Changing room fun

So today I went shopping for the first time in ages. I have not seen a change room since Canada basically. My dad jokes that I won't be into shopping anymore because I can make my own clothes, HA. Worst joke/assumption ever. Sure, sometimes I absent-mindedly imagine sewing on the sleeves of something I'm looking at but honestly my aptitude to shop has only increased. Do french seams or rather buy a blouse? We all know the answer. I put on my Urban Outfitters crop top faster than you can say Spring has sprung and headed out.

I fell in love with this cute half mesh half crochet waistcoast, so delicate! This was the last size they had in the dress, a little big but just gotta toughen it up with some black accessories and mean heels.

When I was changing back I teamed the vest with my puffy leather skirt. I would love to wear this out maybe tucked in with the bra, but where would I get away with it? People would think I was a loon. A slutty loon. BUT THEY'RE A-CUPS! C'mon, there has to be that benefit of a small treasure chest, wearing revealing clothes without looking like a hoochie mama?

Yes yes or no no? YDE has the best stuff I've seen from them in years, they really upped their game this Summer. Gonna show you all the stuff I bought next post. x

There's a puppy behind my sewing machine

Alisha has been bringing her new toy pom to class, it's the cutest little fluffball. He just chills on her boyfriend's desk. Bad idea; Matt the fur enthusiast sits right in front of him...
