Charming young South African jewellery designer, Henriette Botha, unveiled her new fall collection this week. Instead of opting for the darker colours so associated with fall, her collection SOUTH brings us just the right amount of bright that we crave when the days are grey. Inspired by Brazilian prints, Mexican attitude and Sicilian vibrance, this mix of cultural influences was evident in her use of textures and juxtaposition. Henriette's knotting, beadwork, chains and tassels combine to create bold statement accessories but she didn't forget about the gals who love their delicate bracelets and earrings. With a CV including a stint at Balmain, this girl is pretty impressive. I'm glad we didn't lose her to Paris! Shop the line at www.henriettebotha.com.
Last week Woolworths presented the Autumn/Winter 2014 collections for their Witchery, Mimco, Country Road and Trenery brands. The latter duo have proved that they provide plenty key-pieces and style staples for the SA woman but now Woolworths will exclusively offer Australian brands Witchery and Mimco from March 2014.
Witchery offers trendy apparel with an edge while Mimco has us covered for quirky and eclectic accessories. I'm so excited about everything hitting our shores, and Witchery's show have especially made me want to invest in a whole new wardrobe. After laying my eyes on some of the coats and jackets, I was almost sad about summer! Luckily by the time the collections arrive in-store, my post-Christmas bank balance will be a thing of the past. Respect to Woolworths for giving us the music from the fashion show when we left; I never have time to Shazam songs while I'm snapping away! I'll see you at the shops next year, fashionistas x
Here's a little peek at Take Care and Adriaan Kuiter's winter collection at their shared store. Both brands complement eachother with great tailoring and classic key items. I liked the texture present in Adriaan's collection (more men need fuzzy sweaters if you ask me) as well the utilitarian hooded shirts. My favorite garment was an interesting shirt in his lookbook that was printed with industrial pattern block text.
Skermunkil's jewellery caught my eye with their delicate and minimalist shape necklaces that will garnish any outfit in a chic manner, I'm a big fan! Finally Take Care gives us luxe ready-to-wear with beautiful waterfall cut jackets and their use of silks, cashmere and wool for a warm winter. Check out the Store at 73 on Kloof Street before a cosy dinner. Maybe winter is looking delightful after all.
Here's a bit of fashion week fun from Jeremy Scott who presented a multi-coloured 90s treat with splashes of internet inspiration. Tomorrow I'm doing a style interview with Fluffy Owl Films and then running errands the rest of the week. I've been using disposable cameras recently so I'm excited to have the film developed, you never really know what's going to come out. I went to a party and my friends were pointing at the back of the cardboard whenever we took photos as if we could examine the pictures, haha. We're such nerds, I love it.
