Top and shorts - The Lot
Heels - Zoom
I had to throw out these trusty old heels because I'd worn them way too much and there was no saving them. I'm so excited to wear shorts, I was a bit hesitant to wear them because of that girly voice in my head saying, "Hey hold up, what about that whole cellulite thing? Shorts aren't for you". Truthfully, I never even thought about that stuff until one of those Mean Girls scenes IRL where apparently, there's a lot of flaws for us girls to fixate on. Screw that nonsense! Imma let my flag fly!
The first time I ever worried about weight was when kids called me chubby when I was growing up. I was never overweight, I was just born with this gorgeous full face. Something I never ever wanted to share was an insult my first crush threw at me behind my back, "bulldog face". I believe it was used again by another boy on a school camp. That term haunted me ever since primary school so I'm letting go by writing it on the internet for everyone to see. Bulldog face in da house!
These silly body issues are thrust at us to be upset about and completely blown out of proportion so that we'll buy some product or spend time trying to fix them. Bodies aren't supposed to be perfect, they're just a beautiful functional template that we shouldn't spend our lives hating. Even though bikini season is upon us, I'd still rather enjoy tons of pizza than spend wasted energy trying to alter what my momma gave me. Just like RuPaul says, "If you don't love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?".
