On Saturday I had the pleasure of styling the fierce Michelle Allen for Cavendish Square's J&B Met Fashion Challenge. I had no idea how much I missed styling! Seriously dig it. So anyway, Michelle was a finalist in Africa's Next Top Model (which I recently checked out, super addictive) and besides inspiring me to go red, she kindly agreed to model the look of my choice for guests and onlookers last weekend.

Before the show, I was totally freaked out about finding the perfect look but as I zoned out à la Walter Mitty, I stared at a pair of glitter jellies in Cotton On and it hit me. Michelle would make the most bad ass mermaid queen and she won't even need no trident. I searched all over for a dress befitting of Ariel 2.0 but I just hadn't fallen in love. Finally at one of my last stops, I saw this beauty calling me at Mari & Me. You really do know when you know. I scooped that baby up quick and went to get a pearl ear cuff from Zuri and complimetary accessories. Matchy-matchy aint always cheesy baby dolls.

You know the drill, we're talking about dancing the night away, getting up on your friend's shoulders at a concert, singing along at the top of your lungs, taking ridiculous photos, running into friends, stealing hats, meeting new people and inevitably getting some junk food before falling asleep in your accessories. The time has come for some late night summer chaos after exams. These last few months of 2012 are going to be packed with laughs, smiles and a misplaced phone or two. In fact one has already been lost, RIP B den's Samsumg Galaxy S3.

Lately I've been going to fashion shows, answering emails and catching mid-week movies with friends. It was fantastic to go out and enjoy my customary concert beer while watching Linkin Park after my kidney trouble last month. I was scheduled to be on Expresso again but I unfortunately found myself in hospital instead. There's some pros though, my fear of injections is completely gone, I got to try out some comedic material with the nurses (hospitals are still a tough crowd) and I'm 100% healthy.

Next week I'll be AFashionFriend's latest Guest Flogger until the end of November where I'll be sharing my sunglasses DIY as well as some street style from my summer in Europe, can't wait!

I was planning festival outfits for Natalie a few days ago for her trip to Johannesburg. I love my cousin's style, when we combine wardrobes it's just magic. Natalie's a one necklace woman and I respect that, I'm a terrible cheat when it comes to accessories. However we both love cuff earrings, I still owe her a pair for our trip to Coachella next year. This week I attended the Red Bull Red Monday event with my friend Paul. They launched their new Blue, Silver and Red Editions which are Blueberry, Lime and Cranberry respectively. The party was amazing but I could not sleep afterwards haha. I also finally got my hands on Red Hot Chili Pepper tickets and I'm going to be starting Pole again soon. I can't wait to get back into exercise, so glad I found something I actually enjoy!

Time for a new collage, me thinks! I've always had an affinity for gothic fashion ever since I was old enough to idolize Lydia Deetz and Wednesday Addams. Now I'm adding the amazing American Horror Story's Violet Harmon into the mix. Imagine that sleepover, they could sit in a room full of candles and trade playlists while they talked about inner turmoil. Fashion event of the season.

It's been really hot in Cape Town this month! This is my ultimate Saturday morning get up complete with creature comforts and bikini bottoms for when it's time to have a refreshing afternoon swim. I'm obsessed with the flamingo slippers so I'm going to order them and walk around my house like a loon.

It's been a bit of a mad week so far, I cut myself pretty badly in pole class with a sharp heel, bleeding in public is not comfortable or chic...aah the perils of fashion! I'm just looking forward to burying myself in work tomorrow. Life is sort of like a closet that gets filled to the brim and you have to keep clearing it out to make room for new clothes but you will never have an empty closet because there's always another thing that needs hemming or throwing out. The hardest part of completing tasks are the first few steps, once you have the tools out, it seems to force you into motion.

Vacations bring the opportunity to play dress up. Glitter and grunge, dirty sequins and pristine studs. Gritty webcam and phone shots to match. Right now I'm really into mixing delicate textures, colours and embellishments with rough ones. It's the ultimate outfit because it's the ultimate woman, person, human; yin and yang, light and dark. Balance at its best. We all have a shiny side and a misty one. I remember being very young, waiting around at an airport, thinking about how badly I wanted some Doc Matins to wear with a super feminine skirt, I thought I was a genuis. The close ups are post accessorising, never doubt the power of accessories. I bought my favorite necklace ever this week, it's a long silver chain with working scissors and a bobbin.

Time has slipped by and I haven't been able to blog, in fact I am knee deep in a swamp of assignments but I have a college prom party tonight that I am determined to go to. I just can't refuse a formal ball, I love dressing up. A fancy dress and killer shoes, you know it. So I'll keep this short and sweet with my styled food shoot from last weekend using real candyfloss.
I'm really getting interested in styling now that I'm doing shoots. I've been working on my croquis book as well, it's so great to get out of the city, with nothing to distract you. I've been forcing myself to get 7 and a half hours of sleep every night also and it's helping my productivity. Just in time for this Friday; jeans to start and finish, 2 seperate sets of storyboards and 13 male figures spread over 3 A2s and 1 A3. Whew!
