Teasing my hair in the dim light and dreaming of hot summer nights. It's chilly but I'll wear the kimono so I can feel some goosebumps on my arms mingle with the breeze. The sunset will keep me hopeful and the stars will keep me company. I'm never going back the way I came. I'll stop retracing my steps because that never does me any good. Whoever I was before this moment is a hologram of a girl who no longer exists because we're under no obligation to be the same person we were five minutes ago.
Tonight I will walk into the city and feel everything, see everything, hear everything. I'm fearless and I can see the fire in your eyes so I know you're not afraid of anything either. You're ready to run with me. We'll dance and spin in the dark and when we let go and collapse onto our laughter, our breath is hot and our heartbeats feel as wild as we do. We find that warmth we thought winter stole from us and we wonder why we pretend that we're sparklers that flicker and fizzle when our true nature never fails us. I will never let the rain fall on my flames again. Are you with me? Good. Get the gasoline and take my hand.
